Michel w Samir aw Samir w Michel - A Play by Joe Kodeih
A non-political comedy that portrays the daily lives of two men committed to a psychiatric hospital for believing themselves to be famous political leaders. Written and directed by Joe Kodeih performed by Hicham Haddad, Rodrigue Sleiman, Antoine Balabene, Maguy Badaoui and Abdo Attah.
Playing in Theatre Gemmayze every Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 8:30 starting March 6, 2014.

ABOUT DIRECTOR JOE KODEIH

Born September 3, 1967, a Lebanese playwright, director and actor. he wrote and directed dozens of plays that have been performed all over Europe, the Middle East, Africa and the United States. Also a drama teacher at IESAV, ALBA and Hekme-Lausanne universities and occasionally an art critic writer for the local newspaper supplement Dalil An-Nahar.

The first play he directed was "La soiree des proverbes" of Georges Schehade, with 16 actors. It was in 1995. Then a year latee Joe directed and performed in "Scenes d'amour", a medley of love scenes chosen from the theatre repertoire, with Sofiane Belaide, Carole Hajj and Belinda Khadra. "Scenes d'amour" showed at the French Cultural Center and then at the Avignon Festival.

In 1998 he adapted and directed "Kiss of the spider woman" of Manuel Puig, a play that was acclaimed by the critics and the audiance. It was peformed by Elie Karam and Mounah Saliba.

Joe Kodeih experienced his first huge success with Matar Charles De Gaulle in 1999. The one-woman with Betty Taoutel Sfeir show premiered at the French Cultural Center of Beirut, Salle Montaigne, and subsequently toured Lebanon for a year.

In 2003, Joe Kodeih was lucky to be the first Lebanese director and writer to perform on a Broadway stage at Lamama ETC with "The Middle Beast", co-written with Elie Karam and Marc Kodeih, and was performed by Mario Bassil, Elie Karam, Jack Maroun, Nadine Labaki and Taranasha Wallace. The play was acclaimed by the New York audience and critics. The play was readapted and written in Arabic in 2008 in Beirut, and scooped for a long period at Monnot, Monroe and Beryte theatres. It was the talk of the town for a while. The cast was composed of: Ammar Shalak, Tony Balabane, Chaady El-Zein, Bashir Maroun and Celine Sursock.
